| Summary: |
Corneal transplantations performed in the Department of
Ophthalmology Medical University of Warsaw in years 2000-2002 were analysed. Patients were
divided in 5 groups according to the preoperative diagnosis. Observation period ranged
from 6 mouths to 3 years. Age, gender, kind of surgical procedure, visual aquity before
and after surgery and postoperative complications were evaluated. The biggest number of
transplantation procedures were performed due to corneal cones. The biggest number of
patients waiting for corneal transplantation include patients with bullous kerathopathy.
This condition however requires extremely good quality of the donor material. |
