Summary: Amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT) used to be considered as an excellent substrate for treatment in some corneal diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the amniotic membrane transplantation in cases of small corneal perforation. As a basement membrane with antiinflammatory properties, amniotic membrane allows faster healing and better conditions can be obtained for possible keratoplasty. AMT temporarily secures stability for anterior chamber and could be an useful technique for short-term restoration of ocular surface.
