The etiopathogenesis of pterygium - a fibrovascular growth
of conjunctiva that extends onto the cornea - is still not fully elucidated. The most
important factors contributing to pterygium development are: exposure to ultraviolet
light, harmful chemical substances, wind, dust, pollens and other allergens. Authors
evaluated the influence of immune reactions on the pathogenesis of pterygium. |
