| Summary: |
Plateau iris syndrome is a
condition rarely described in the Polish and foreign
literature. Ultrasound biomicroscopy is the most
effective diagnostic tool to properly recognize such
syndrome, however this method is not commonly accessible
in the every day practice of ophthalmologist. The aim of
this paper is to present the case of 36 years old female
patient treated for plateau iris syndrome. Argon laser
peripheral iridoplasty resulted in the intraocular
pressure decrease but without normalization effect.
Inclusion of myotic agent resulted in intraocular
pressure decrease to 16 mmHg. During follow-up visit too
high (still within the normal range) intraocular
pressure and advanced glaucoma neuropathy of both eyes
were recognized. Beside the myotic agent
prostaglandin-f2alpha-analogue was used in the treatment
which resulted in intraocular pressure decrease to 12
mmHg. During 6 months follow-up IOP stabilization at
this level was observed. |
