| Summary: |
Purpose: Surgery in
congenital glaucoma continues to be a medical problem.
The authors report their own observations after
trabeculotomy with Schlemm's canal wall excision.
Methods: Records of 22 surgical procedures in 14
patients (5 girls and 9 boys) with congenital glaucoma
were studied. Mean age was 48 months, mean follow-up –
18 months. IOP before and after surgery and
complications were presented.
Results: Good results in 21 eyes (95.45%) one month and
in 22 eyes (100%) 6 months after surgery were obtained.
There were no serious complications after surgery.
Conclusions: Trabeculotomy with Schlemm's canal wall
excision is a good and safe surgical procedure not only
for small children, but also for patients above 1 year
of age. |
