| Summary: |
Ophthalmic symptoms may be
a clinical manifestation of different systemic diseases
and in certain cases they can be manifested first.
Usually they appear in advanced stage of the diseases
sparingly being isolated. AIDS as an example of such
pathology – leading to functional and quantitative
immunologic damage – may be manifested ophthalmically
much depending on CD4 status. Thus, neurophthalmic
diseases, retinal ophthalmopathies, tumors as well as
infection of anterior and posterior segment of the eye
should alert physicians as for the actual causative
pathology factor. This way direct therapy greatelly
improves the prognosis. In the paper we present case of
HIV – infected person who manifested AIDS with infective
ophthalmopathy with symptoms of pain and alerting
disturbance of vision quality. |
