| Summary: |
Scanning Laser Doppler
Flowmetry is a non-invasive diagnostic method used to
evaluate and imaging retinal and optic nerve head blood
perfusion. This method utilizes both laser-Doppler
phenomenon and laser confocal optical scanning. It
allows to obtain two dimensional retinal microperfusion
maps and helps to evaluate blood circulation in the
predefined fundus area, measuring velocity, volume and
flow in capillaries in arbitral units.
It may be applied in microperfusion evaluation in
glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, AMD and other retinal
diseases with altered blood circulation (e. g. CRV or
CRA occlusion) as well as in surgicial procedures (e. g.
trabeculectomy) or medications influencing retinal blood
flow. |
