| Summary: |
The aim of this paper is
to evaluate the efficacy of botulinum toxin type A in
the treatment of patients with strabismus and nystagmus.
Material and methods: Subjects were divided into 3
groups: group I- patients with strabismus and nystagmus
(10 children) and group II – patients with strabismus
(10 children) and group -III- children with nystagmus
(10 patients). Children were treated three times every
12 weeks with injections of botulinum toxin type A into
rectus muscles.
Results: Repeated injections reduced the strabismus
angle and nystagmus.
Conclusion: Therapeutic effects of the treatment are
considered to be very good, but unstable, so injections
should be repeated in order to improve the results. |
