| Summary: |
Aim: Assessment of the
influence of juxtapapillary choroidal melanoma
brachytherapy on VEP results.
Material and methods: We examined 5 patients (3 women, 2
men) aged 23-73 lat (mean 61.8) with intraocular tumors
located 0-3 mm from optic disc. Tumor thickness measured
using USG was 3-8.3 mm (mean 4.9 mm). In 4 patients we
used Ru-106 brachytherapy, in 1 patient I-125. In all
patients before treatment and 1 moth later we performed
fVEP, in 3 patients pVEP (Tomey).
Results: P100 amplitude fVEP before treatment was 4.5-30
µV (mean 14.06 µV), after treatment 6.3-28.6 µV (mean
13.28 µV). P100 latency before treatment was 110.1-143.8
ms (mean 122.22 ms), after treatment 110.2-50.6 ms (mean
132.76 ms). P100 amplitude pVEP before treatment was
5.5-12.2 µV (mean 8.4 µV), after treatment 4.2-7.3 V (mean
6.1 µV). P100 latency pVEP before treatment was
94.1-109.8 ms (mean 101.13 ms), after treatment 93-125.6
ms (mean 106.46 ms).
Conclusion: Both in fVEP and in pVEP we observed small
decrease in P100 amplitude and increase in P100 latency,
more pronounced in pVEP. These results need longer
observation. |
