| Summary: |
Purpose: The main
purpose of our article is to show and compare the latest
possibilities of surgical treatment in retinal vein
occlusion such as sheathotomy, vitrectomy with internal
limiting membrane peeling (dissection), radial optic
neurotomy, vitrectomy with cannulation and injection of
the tissue plasminogen activator (tPA). We would like to
introduce our own research associated with three
victrectomies with internal limiting membrane peeling (dissection)
that we performed in patients after CRVO or BRVO.
Method: Vitrectomy with ILM peeling was performed
in three patients with CRVO or BRVO. Based on chosen
articles we presented other methods of surgical
treatment and the possible complications.
Results: Our postoperative results refer to early
(2 months) observation only. Victertomy was performed
successfully in all four patients. There were no
complications noted with this procedure. All patients
had fluorescein angiography and OCT performed.
Postoperative visual acuities improved in three patients.
Conclusions: Vitrectomy with ILM peeling seems to
be an interesting treatment method for patients with
CRVO and BRVO. We couldn't obtain more findings because
of the shortage of operated patients and too short
period of our research.
We suggest that it is the safest method of all described
in our article. |
