| Summary: |
Vitreous covers 90% of the
eyeball and is one of the most important elements of its
structure. Operation for senile cataract can cause
vitreous floater or vitreous detachment. In the research
100 eyes were examined by US on 4 occasions: 1 day
before surgery, 1 week, 1 month and 3 months post
surgery. Statistical analysis shows that preoperative
vitreous status has insignificant effect on the
postoperative changes in the vitreous, whereas the age
is a significant factor. The severe preoperative
floaters significantly increased detachment probability
occurrence. |
