| Summary: |
Postoperative
endophtalmitis is a very serious complication which
leads to visual acuity decrease. It can be very
difficult to diagnose and treat. The most common reason
for developing endophtalmitis is patient’s bacterial
flora. During cataract surgery saprophitic flora gets
into anterior chamber what activates immune system. If
immune system foils infection begins. Systemic and
topical administration of the appropriate antibiotics
according to microbiological cultures taken from the
anterior chamber and vitreous. Very important post
belongs to prophilaxis which includes topical
antibiotics and disinfection of the conjunctival sac by
the use of 5% Povidone-iodine. |
