| Summary: |
Photodynamic therapy is
safe and well tolerated method of treatment in subfoveal
choroidal neovascularization. The majority of the
adverse events are mild to moderate and transient in
nature. The most frequently reported adverse events in
verteporfin - treated patients are injection – site
reactions and transient visual disturbances. The risk of
severe vision decrease associated with treatment occur
in less than 2 % of patients. The benefits of treatment
for the large majority of patients outweigh the risk of
serious adverse events. |
