| Summary: |
8-years old patient
suffering from atopic dermatitis since birth came to
Ophthalmology Department due to the keratoconjunctivitis
exacerbation in September this year. The main symptoms
were severe photophobia, lacrimation as well as intense
ocular itching. Mixed hyperaemia, papillary hypertrophy
of the palpebral conjunctiva were also stated. Extensive
corneal plaque with peripheral superior
neovascularization in the right eye and punctate
epitheliopathy with small white corneal infiltrates
staining with fluorescein were observed. Topical
treatment was changed. Dexpanthenol was continued and
Ketotifen two times daily to both eyes and
Fluorometholone three times daily to the left eye were
initiated. Soft silicone-hydrogel therapeutic contact
lens was applied on the right eye. Gradual improvement
was observed. At first, photophobia was reduced and then
the eyes condition improved. Therefore, Fluorometholone
three times daily to the right eye was initiated.
When after one month since the begining of the treatment
therapeutic contact lens was removed, eyes were pale.
Thin single blood vessels in the superior part and
corneal haze without fluorescein staining in the central
part of the right cornea were observed. Residue corneal
haze without fluorescein staining in the supero-temporal
part of the left cornea was presented. Topical treatment
was prolonged: Ketotifen two times daily to both eyes,
Fluorometholone two times daily to the right eye and
once a day to the left eye. |
