| Summary: |
Purpose: To estimate
efficacy and safety of 0,5% levofloxacin ophthalmic
solution (Oftaquix, Santen, Finland) for the treatment
of pediatric bacterial conjunctivitis,
keratoconjunctivitis and following strabismus surgery.
Methods: 250 pediatric patients (age range 1 to 15 years)
were examined. Eye drops were instilled every 2 hours on
day 1 and 2 (up to 8 times daily) and QID on day 3
through 5.
Results: In all patients the results of levofloxacin
treatment were very good. Except eight patients no side
effects were observed.
Conclusions: After 5 days of therapy 0,5 % levofloxacin
ophthalmic solution was found to be safe and effective
in treating bacterial conjunctivitis,
keratoconjunctivitis and following strabismus surgery. |
