| Summary: |
Purpose: To
evaluate the efficacy of treatment and Nyolol Gel 0.1%
side effects incidence in Juvenile Glaucoma and Ocular
Hypertension in children.
Material and methods: study design: 4-months
observation study. 47 patients (20 patients with
juvenile glaucoma and 27 patients with ocular
hypertension below 18 years of age) first diagnosed were
included into the study. All patients underwent complete
ophthalmological examination: slit lamp exam, IOP
measurement, pachymetry, gonioscopy, refractive error,
fundus exam, HRT, and visual field testing (using
Octopus 301 perimeter). Patients were examined in a
month intervals, all side effects were reported.
Results: 70% patients with ocular hypertension
and 42% patients with juvenile glaucoma reached target
IOP without additional treatment. In 23% patients Nyolol
Gel 0.1% was replaced with other medication. In both
groups, adverse effects (minor) appeared in 17% patients.
Conclusions: Nyolol Gel 0.1% once daily, provides
statistically significant IOP decrease in ocular
hypertensive treatment and is comparatively well
tolerated in children with juvenile glaucoma and ocular
hypertension. |
