Summary: Purpose: To evaluate the effect of the type of implanted intraocular lenses on eye’s optical system’s aberrations after phacoemulsification.
Material and methods: The prospective analysis focused on changes in eye’s optical system’s aberrations in 30 patients (30 eyes) following phacoemulsification (2.4 mm incision) of uncomplicated cataract with posterior chamber implantation of artificial lens. Surgeries were performed in the Department of Ophthalmology Medical University of Warsaw. Patients were divided into three groups (each group consisted of 10 patients) according to the type of implanted intraocular lenses. Operated patients had different types of lenses implanted: I group – AcrySof IQ Natural; II group – AcrySof SA60AT; III group – AcrySof MA60BM. The aberrations of eye’s optical system were analyzed using Zyoptix system (Bausch&Lomb) before and one month after surgery.
Results: The comparative analysis shows differences in eye’s optical system’s aberrations depending on the type of implanted lens.
Conclusions: No changes in RMS of HOA were observed. The smallest changes in eye’s optical system’s aberration were observed in patients who had Acrysof IQ Natural implanted.
