| Summary: |
Glaucoma and cataract are
the leading causes of blindness in the world.
Unfortunately glaucomatous optic nerve damage results in
permanent vision loss. In some cases cataract
progression may induce secondary glaucoma – phacolytic
glaucoma if we have mature or hypermature cataract. Also
other types of lens-induced glaucomas cause variety of
severe and acute symptoms with significant decrease in
visual acuity. The definite method of phacolytic
glaucoma’ treatment, after intraocular pressure
normalization on topical therapy is cataract surgery. In
this paper we describe symptoms of phacolytic glaucoma,
differential diagnoses and methods of successful
treatment of this condition. |
