Summary: Purpose: Assessment of the intravenous immunoglobulin treatment efficacy in chronic, exacerbate uveitis due to the juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
Material and methods: Two patients suffering from uveitis due to the juvenile idiopathic arthritis have been treated in the Department of Ophthalmology of Children’s Memorial Health Institute during last 7 years. After a few years of ineffective treatment with corticosteroids, immunosuppressive and biological agents children received immunoglobulin.
Results: Immunoglobulin therapy caused uveitis remission in both patients. One of them did not require any other pharmacotherapy during the subsequent follow-up period. There were no side-effects of immunoglobulin therapy.
Conclusions: In some cases of uveitis resistant to conventional treatment, with high risk of blindness, immunoglobulin therapy may help prevent the loss of visual function
