| Summary: |
Diagnosis of posterior
uveitis requires execution of a wide panel of tests due
to its complexity. Recommended additional tests should
be directed depending on the results of patient
examination and primary tests. However, frequently the
main cause remains unknown. Therapy employs „targeting”
treatment as well as anti-inflammatory drugs including
immunosuppressive treatment. The article below describes
a case of a patient with rapidly progressing posterior
uveitis of unknown etiology despite intensive
anti-inflammatory therapy. During the course of illness
several complications such as ischemic and edemic
maculopathy, secondary glaucoma, secondary cataract,
recurring hemorrhages to the vitreous body appeared.
Secondary glaucoma and ischemic and oedemic maculopathy
are the main causes of visual loss. |
