| Summary: |
Aim: The aim of the
paper was trancanicular laser dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR)
efficiency evaluation in cases of congenital or
iatrogenic nasolacrimal duct obstruction and other parts
of the lacrimal drainage system.
Patients and Methods: Retrospective evaluation of
the procedure efficiency was performer In 361 eyes of
301 patients with lacrimal drainage system obstruction,
in whom standard treatment methods were previously used.
Patients age ranged from 2 months to 89 years. Follow-up
period was 24 months.
In all patients transcanicular endoscopic laser
dacryocystorhinostomy connected with temporary lacrimal
duct intubation with silicone 0.63 mm tube on the
Crawford probe was used. Procedure was performed using
diode laser of 910 nm wale length and power of the
emitted beam of 15 W of the Optosgroup company.
After procedure patency in all patients were achieved.
During follow-up period in 307 eyes patency and
inflammatory symptoms within lacrimal duct were achieved.
In 8 eyes (9 children) with complete lacrimal drainage
system aplasia naso-lacrimal duct re-obstruction
occurred 1 month after intubation tubes removal. Those
children were qualified for another reconstruction. in
case of failure reoperation procedures with anastomosis
enlargement was performed. In 5 cases, transition to the
classic procedure was necessary.
Conclusions: It is efficient treatment method of
the obstruction possible to perform in any patients age. |
