| Summary: |
Purpose: SOCT is a
new variant of optical tomography that enables to
provide tomograms of improved quality due to very short
acquisition time and high sensitivity. The aim of the
study is to assess the ability of SOCT with central
wavelength of 830nm to visualize filtering blebs in vivo.
Material and methods: A total number of 33 eyes 6
months to 2 years after trabeculectomy were enrolled.
After slit-lamp examination and colour photography, 830
nm SOCT was performed with the aid of the prototype
instrument constructed at the Institute of Physics,
Nicolaus Copernicus University, Toruń, Poland.
Results: Tomograms with resolution of 4,5 x 10 µm
were acquired. The quality of images allow
cross-sectional analysis of filtering blebs morphology
in vivo. Due to the limited penetration of 830 nm light
and high reflectivity of tissues, the sclera beneath the
bleb was visualized only in some cases.
Conclusions: 830 nm SOCT allows cross-sectional
imaging of filtering blebs that may be useful in
research. However due to the limited light penetration
clinical value may be limited. |
