| Summary: |
Posterior capsule
opacification evaluation is a difficult task. Subjective
clinical methods based on visual acuity testing,
contrast sensitivity and glare presence are not
errorless. Capsulotomy is not a proper index of PCO
degree. The most reliable are methods based on
photography in advanced computer systems. EPCO system
determines the degree of opacification density by
densitometry, POCO – surface of PCO in percentage, AQUA
compares degree of opacification grey with matrix.
POCOman is a semi objective evaluation method by the
program available in internet. A modern method for
evaluation of the posterior capsule opacification is
SOCT. None of the systems ensures fully univocal and
repeatable determination of PCO degree, therefore,
further studies on the method allowing evaluation of
posterior capsule opacification are necessary. |
