Corneal Dystrophies Treatment Methods

| Summary: |
The aim of this study was
to present corneal dystrophies treatment methods. Author
described the possibility of different treatment options
used in patients with corneal dystrophies. Standard
treatment of corneal erosions in the course of corneal
dystrophy including lubrication, corneal deposits or
scars removal with lamellar or penetrating keratoplasty
as well as laser techniques were analysed. Development
of new surgical laser techniques in recent ophthalmic
surgery have extended the possibilities of healing
patients with corneal diseases. Phototherapeutic
keratectomy significantly improves the functionality and
clinical state of vision in patients with corneal
dystrophies and degenerations to delay or even avoid
corneal transplantation as well as to reduce erosions
recurrences irrespective of their etiology. |
