Posterior lamellar
keratoplasty ( PLK ) is a modern surgical approach in
primary or secondary corneal endothelium disorders.
Fuchs dystrophy is the most common primary cause of
corneal edema. Therefore in recent years PLK has been a
main approach in the treatment as save and less invasive
surgical technique. PLK has quickly become an
alternative method to penetrating keratoplasty in
corneal edema surgery. Over the last decade PLK
procedures underwent constant modifications with
reducing number of postoperative complications,
increasing patient comfort and good final results. |
