| Summary: |
Epiretinal membranes are
fibrocellular proliferations on the surface of the
retina.
It is a quite common pathology concerning especially the
population of elderly people. Usually asymptomatic, the
disease may cause a serious impairment of visual
function. In these cases surgical treatment is necessary.
The aim of this paper is to present the current
knowledge on the epidemiology, etiology, symptoms and
diagnosis of ERM. |
