| Summary: |
We present the case of
79-years old male with bilateral foveoschisis and
subfoveolal neovascularisation associated with age
related macular degeneration (AMD) in the right eye. The
patient presented to our clinic complaining of worsening
the vision in his right eye in the last few months.
Complete ophthalmological examination, ultrasonography (US),
fluorescein retinal angiography (FA), indocyjanine green
angiography (ICG) and optical coherence tomography (OCT)
were performed. Foveoschisis and soft drusen were found
in both eyes. B-mode ultrasound and OCT showed outer
retinal layer schisis with absence of foveal pit. In the
right eye FA and OCT images were consistent with
subfoveal occult neovascularization. Intravitreal
anti-VEGF injections and grid photocoagulation were
performed in the right eye, after the treatment both
anatomical status and visual acuity were improved.
Foveoschisis was present during entire follow-up. We
conclude, that wet AMD coexisting with foveoschisis can
be successfully treated with anti-VEGF intravitreal
therapy. |
