| Summary: |
The aim of our study is to
show the importance of antioxidants in age-related
macular degeneration (AMD) pathogenesis and to perform
revision of diet supplements admnistered in AMD
prophylaxis.
Material and methods: We created the list of medicines
containing lutein and zeaxanthin taking their
composition and costs under consideration. We did it
using the data collected from three pharmacies of
Kujawsko-Pomorskie county.
Results and conclusions: We found that in Poland we had
a lot of preparations containing lutein and zeaxanthin.
The register of diet supplements used in AMD prophylaxis
comparing their contents and costs can be helpful for
ophthalmologists and their patients. |
