Summary: Stargardt’s macular dystrophy is one of the central retinal dystrophies with its’ onset in first two decades of life. Affected patients usually present with gradual decrease in visual acuity and exhibit a highly characteristic pattern in fluorescein angiography. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) also reveals typical features of macular morphology such as decreased retinal thickness, most prominent in the fovea, and atrophic changes in outer retinal layers. Because of a characteristic OCT appearance, this examination may become a useful tool for diagnosing and monitoring Stargardt’s macular dystrophy.
Key words: Stargardt’s disease, fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography.
