| Summary: |
Purpose: To evaluate the influence of
compliance on comfort of frequent replacement contact lens wearers.
Methods: 145 frequent replacement contact lens wearers were sureveyed
about compliance and comfort. Ocular status with use of CCLRU (Cornea and Contact Lens
Research Unit) standards was also assessed.
Results: We noted 49,65% compliance of frequent replacement contact lens
wearers. Mean comfort in complaint group was statistically lower then in non complaint.
Noncomplaint patients less often controled their eyes, but their risk of complications and
the results of ophthalmological examination were similar to the whole group. 19,31% of
patients used one bottle (360 ml) of disinfection solution over 3 months and they had the
highest risk of complications.
Conclusions: The results show 50,35% noncompliance of frequent
replacement contact lens wearers. Patients with higher comfort were more likely to be
noncomplaint, less often controled their eyes, but the risk of complications and the
results of ophthalmological examination were similar to the whole group. The highest risk
of complications were noted in group of patients who used one bottle (360 ml) of
disinfection solution over 3 months. |
