| Summary: |
78 people wearing silicone-hydrogel Pure Vision contact
lenses manufactured by Bausch and Lomb were examined. The results of these examinations
were further evaluated. The patients were ophthalmologically examined first at the moment
of the application of lenses and then again after a period of time not exceeding one month
of uninterrupted use of the lenses. During the examinations the following elements were
paid special attention to; the condition of the anterior part of the eye, the cornea's
curvature, the extend of the defect, the mobility and centration of the lenses, the visual
acuity and the stability of visual acuity while wearing the lenses. The number of nights
slept with Pure Vision lenses on was analyzed. Also, the patients were asked to assess the
degree of comfort after waking up. The authors examined whether or not the patients found
it necessary to use lubricant as well as the frequency of its application throughout the
day. The subjective irritations experienced by the patients while wearing lenses were
described, grouped and assessed. The authors analyzed the final evaluation of wear comfort
and toleration of Pure Vision lenses as expressed by the patients. Eventually, the authors
evaluated the number of patients who decided to continue wearing silicon-hydrogel contact
lenses as well as the reasons given by the patients who decided to discontinue using
lenses of this kind. |
