| Summary: |
In the paper the author describe 4 children with bilateral
congenital cataract (operated in the age of 4-10 months) and 10 children with unilateral
congenital cataract (operated in the age of 2-10 months). In all of these cases nearly
full visual acuity was obtained. Children were wearing rigid gas permeable contact lenses
and were treated against amblyopia (obturation, pleoptics), squint and nystagmus
(localization method with the use of prisms, injections of botulinum toxin and surgery).
In all children visual acuity of 0,5-0,9 for the distance (Snellen) and 0,8-1,0 for the
near (Lea Symbols) without occurrence of squint and nystagmus was obtained after 8 years
of treatment. |
