| Summary: |
The aim of the study was
the evaluation of the complications occuring while
wearing the soft daily contact lenses in children and
adults. The study comprises of 171 patients, including
66 children and 105 adults. The complications were found
in 38,6% patients, one third of them needed the
induction of therapy. The most frequent complication was
the giant papillary conjunctivitis, which was diagnosed
in 20,5% of patients. Rare (below 1%) complications were
corneal infiltrates, neovascularization and the acute
red eye. The complications were seen much more
frequently in children (59%) comparing to the adults
(25,7%). Regular ophthalmological examinations in
patients wearing soft contact lenses prevent the
complications and secure the safe use of lenses. |
