| Summary: |
Orthokeratology is a
temporary reduction of myopia achieved by the programmed
application of contact lenses to reshape the cornea.
Modern orthokeratology achieves this using specially
designed reverse geometry gas permeable ortho-k shaping
lenses worn during sleep.
Purpose: The aim of this work is to determine the
orthotreatment results (one year experience).
Material and methods: A total number of 28
patients (55 eyes) with myopia from -1.0 to -6.0D were
examined before and after 1 year of orthokeratology
reshaping. We used CKR (controlled kerato-reformation)
ortholens design and EH-390 Topographer.
Results: In the 3 study groups the mean
refraction was -2.44D, -3.45D and -5.34D before
orthotreatment and -0.15D, -0.28D and -0.56D after
orthotreatment, respectively. The myopia did not change
during the year.
Conclusions: Orthokeratology is effective
procedure, with good results of myopia correction and it
probably may stabilize myopia progression. |
