| Summary: |
Pediatric cataracts
present not only surgical problems. In opposite to adult
patients, development of vision in children, especially
before seven years of age is not accomplished. In this
period of life wrong correction of refractive error may
cause amblyopia and strabismus. Pseudophakic, pediatric
eyes with lack of accommodation should be corrected with
progressive or bifocal glasses. The best correction of
lack of crystalline lens in aphakic, pediatric eyes is
provided by gas permeable hard contact lenses. |
