| Summary: |
The aim of our
study is to present outcomes of contact lens fitting
after keratoplasty in our material.
Material Group of 60 patients (age from 17 to 86
years) included 21 patients with irregular astigmatism
and UC VA from 0.01 to 0.4, 7 patients with high regular
astigmatism and UC VA from 0.03 to 0.4 – in this group
RPG or toric soft contact lens were used; 17 patients
with epithelial erosions, 7 with protruding sutures, 5
with leak and 3 with wound dehiscence – in this group
HEMA was used. The average time of observation was 3.5
yeats. We observed epithelial disorders after
fluorescein dyeing, anterior chamber depth and we asked
patients about comfort improvement.
Outcomes Lens-corrected VA in a group of patients
with irregular astigmatism ranged from 0.1 to 1.0, in a
group with high, regular astigmatism from 0.2 to 1.0. In
13 cases we noted full epitelialization of the cornea.
Anterior chamber depth stabilization was achieved in all
cases of the wound leak ege and in two cases of the
wound dehiscence. All patients with protruding sutures
recorded comfort improvement.
Complications were associated with bacterial (3
patients ) and fungal (one case) keratitis, corneal
abrasion caused by mechanical impairment (5 patients
wearing rigid lenses), and new vessels ingrowths ( 3
patients)
Conclusion Contact lens fitting after
keratoplasty is the important part of the post operative
treatment. |
