| Summary: |
Orthokeratology is the
procedure using reverse-geometry gas-permeable lenses
for the temporary reduction of myopia.
The aim of the study was to evaluate efficacy of low to
moderate myopia reduction with high gas-permeable
Rinehart -Reeves Ortho-K lenses. 9 patients (18 eyes)
aged 18-56 years, with spherical equivalent from -0.75D
to -4.5D were enrolled to the study. Baseline
examination included visual acuity, refraction, baseline
corneal topography, tear film analysis, biomicroscopy.
Ortokeratology was performed according to the fitting
procedure. The follow-up time ranged from 2 to 8 months
- visual acuity, refraction and corneal topography was
examined. In all eyes improvement in visual acuity was
observed, in 16 eyes achieving 0.8 - 1.0. Ortholenses
have been well tolerated. There have been no serious
complications during follow-up. Orthokeratology could be
an effective alternative method of myopia correction. |
