| Summary: |
Dry eye is the most common
contact lens drop-outs cause. Dry eye symptoms and sings,
abnormality in tear film and ocular surface in young
women may be related with sex-hormones influence. Mild
changes in normal menstrual cycle or oral hormonal
therapy are observed. Increased dry eye problems leading
to contact lens intolerance are associated with
endocrine disorders. The policystic ovary syndrome is
the most common in women of reproductive age.
Successful contact lens wear should be achieved for dry
eye patients with appropriate associated disorders
management, including conditions that produce dry eye
e.g. concerning lids, meibomian gland, and ocular
surface. Careful lenses and solutions selection, and
vigilant follow-up is vital. |
