| Summary: |
The aim of this paper was
to summarize ocular complications of oral contraceptive
therapy during contact lens wear. Ocular complications
are mainly fluctuation in tear production and tears
quality, the incidence of deep epithelial edema, and
microcystic bubbles formation. Combined oral
contraception now available cause some of these
complication but its’ frequency remains very low. It
seems to lessen with estrogen dosage reduction and third
generation progestins use. Patients using those
medicines may have individual clinical responses to
contact lens fitting and we can observe decreased
tolerance to contact lenses. |
