| Summary: |
Localization method is
also used in the treatment of strabismus with motility
abnormalities similarly to the method used in squint
treatment with no motility abnormalities but
hypercorrection prisms are not applied. Alternate eye
occlusion and simultaneous uncovering is done with full
refraction and strabismus angle correction. Prisms
correction can be divided into both eyes but correction
of the normal eye should not be hyper then motility
range of on eye with motility abnormalities. Time of
prism correction with no occlusion is gradually extended.
Power of the prism correction is also gradually reduced.
In cases of strabismus with motility abnormalities
associated with eccentric fixation in initial phase,
trial of fixation treatment using euthyscope light and
occlusion should be tried. In strabismus with recently
contracted motility abnormalities pharmacology – vit.
B1, physiotherapy (ionophoresis with vit. B1,
galvanization) motility exercises of affected muscle are
recommended. Aim of the treatment is to achieve parallel
or most beneficial eye in straight pose. |
