| Summary: |
Dry eye syndrome is one of
the most common disorders encountered in daily
ophthalmological practice. A tear film is responsible
for optimal conditions of ocular surface in
physiological conditions. Despite the type of pathology
which leades to dry eye syndromes, developing
hyperosmolarity of the tear film is one of the key
pathogenetic factors in the development of microinjuries
of ocular surface and dry eye syndrome. Osmoprotective
agents act through compatible solutes to prevent a
hyperosmolar tear film from damaging the ocular surface
and it shows very interesting perspectives for treating
dry eye syndromes. |
